Lifebrain consortium meeting in Barcelona

37 members of the Lifebrain consortium met in Barcelona to discuss the next steps for harmonizing the 11 Lifebrain studies. The University of Oslo invited all project partners to this three-day-meeting in Barcelona to review the project activities done so far and plan for the coming months.

After the long meetings days we were lucky to marvel at the buildings of Gaudi. Thanks to an excellent guided tour we could walk on the roof of Casa Mila (La Padrera).

This time we had two public events connected to the meeting.

Two Lifebrain researchers, Brenda Penninx (VU University Medical Centre Amsterdam) and David Bartrés-Faz (University of Barcelona) presented some of their findings during the public lecture, 15th November in the evening, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. Brenda gave us a lecture on depression as a brain disease, meanwhile David presented some lifestyle actors influencing brain health, such as diet, sleep or social activities.

On the last afternoon of the meeting, at the first Lifebrain stakeholder workshop 13 Lifebrain researchers and 11 Catalan and national stakeholders-representatives of patient and interest organizations, brain health researchers, clinicians, brain research participants, and policymakers gathered to discuss the public engagement activities in the Lifebrain project.

We have received valuable feedbacks, questions and new perspectives to finetune our activities for the involvement of society in the Lifebrain research.

Stakeholder workshops such as this one in Barcelona help us to get the Lifebrain results translated to public policy, mostly in the health sector.

In general, the stakeholders expressed great interest in Lifebrain and offered their help in getting the results of the projects shared with the world.

Thanks for the great contributions to all!

See you in Oslo, in June, 2018!
